A former care worker, from Stafford, has been found guilty of 11 sexual assaults of children
Yesterday (20 October), a jury found Thomas Beckerleg, 37, guilty of eight counts of abusing a position of trust – sexual activity with a girl 13 to 17 and three counts of sexual activity with a girl 13 to 15.
West Mercia Police arrested Beckerleg in 2023 after a victim came forward and told officers what had happened.
An investigation was launched after another victim reported a sexual assault.
According to police,"Beckerleg was arrested and denied all the offences, but we worked tirelessly to gather evidence against him which has led to a jury convicting him of the offences."
Detective Sergeant Bethan Otter, of the public protection unit, said: "I'm pleased that we've been able to work alongside our colleagues at West Mercia Police to build all of the evidence needed to make sure Beckerleg answers to his crimes.
"I would like to commend the bravery of the victims in coming forward and telling us what happened to them and I hope this conviction offers them some form of closure."
Beckerleg is due to be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on 14 January 2027.
