A man in his 40s has admitted the attempted murder of his ex-partner after she was stabbed multiple times inside a house.
On Tuesday (20 October), Terry Langley, 49, of Bloxwich, Walsall, pleaded guilty to attempted murder at Stafford Crown Court.
He also admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and making threats to kill.
On 3 July, at 8:50 am, police were called to Norton Canes following reports that a man had broken into a house and stabbed a woman multiple times in a bedroom.
The man then fled the house leaving the woman fighting for her life.
Shortly afterwards, Langley was arrested in Bloxwich, Walsall.
Following the attack, the woman was rushed to hospital and underwent lifesaving surgery.
She has now been discharged and continues to recover at home.
Detective Inspector Stephen Ward, of Staffordshire Police CID, said: "This was a brutal and cowardly attack which left a woman with life-threatening injuries.
"Langley forced his way into the property, armed himself and carried out a sustained assault before leaving the victim fighting for her life.
"Thanks to the swift actions of emergency services and the determination of officers, he was arrested just a few hours later.
"I want to pay tribute to the victim for the courage and resilience our victim has shown throughout this investigation.
"While today's guilty plea will not undo the trauma and suffering she has experienced, I hope it provides some reassurance that Langley has accepted responsibility for his actions and will now face the consequences of his violent behaviour.
"Violence against women and girls has a devastating impact on victims, their families and communities.
"We remain committed to pursuing offenders relentlessly and bringing them before the courts."
Langley will remain remanded into custody and is due to be sentenced on 25 February 2027.
