After closing for winter maintenance, Amerton Railway in Stafford, will open its doors to the public on 1 April. 

For those wishing to ride on the steam train, services resume on Good Friday (3 April). 

Visitors can enjoy a train journey through the countryside, with children having the chance to spot Easter eggs which have been hidden along the line.  

The railway's oldest steam locomotive was built at Bagnall's Castle Engine Works in Stafford in 1897. 

From April until the last weekend of October the steam and diesel trains will be running weekly. 

As it gets closer to the summer, the picnic area is the perfect place to enjoy the sunshine, simply hop-off the Chartley Halt stop.  

Amerton Railway is staffed by volunteers and will continue to host special events in the coming months. 

On 17 May, children dressed as pirates or princesses travel free with a paying adult.
