A film created to mark the 50th anniversary of Staffordshire Women's Aid has been nominated in the Smiley Charity Film Awards.  

The charity has been supporting women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence since 1976.  

Written and directed by Jack Hughes, who has previously worked with PRADA, the BBC and Panasonic, the film depicts the impact the charity has had on the lives of women in Staffordshire over the past five decades. 

Produced by female-led company Tinker Taylor, the short feature touches upon the experiences of women during key historical events such as the 1980s miners strikes and the Millennium celebrations.  

Locations such as Market Square in Stafford can be seen in the video with some of the props having been provided by Foregate Street Vintage Emporium. 

The Smiley Charity Film Awards aim to celebrate films created by non-profit organisations.
