Pocket Film Festival

Now in its ninth year, the Pocket Film Festival opens this weekend.

From 25 September to 4 October people can enjoy a varied programme of film events in the heart of Staffordshire and beyond.

Festival director Owen Hurcombe said: "The Pocket Film Festival gives people a chance to experience film culture on their doorstep.

"The festival will host over fourteen specialised film events which will include enhanced screenings with live musical accompaniment, archive films and documentaries, short-film programmes, independent film, British film, and classic films."

Friday 25 September: Salt in Stafford

Friday 25 September: Three Bad Men with live piano accompaniment by Meg Morley

Friday 25 September- Saturday 3 October: In and Around Stafford 1964

Saturday 26 September: Dog Man

Saturday 26 September: Paper cut workshop with Ruth Allen

Saturday 26 September: The Adventures of Prince Achmed with live piano accompaniment by Meg Morley

Saturday 26 September: Daytime disco for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity

A daytime disco, celebrating 35 years of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, is taking place this Saturday in Stafford.

Popular local DJ, Tim Rowlands, better known as TJ DJ, will be spinning classic tunes from across the decades to mark the charity's special anniversary with every ticket sold helping to raise money.

Doors will open at 4pm at Riva and the event is over 18s only.

Saturday 26-27 September: Stafford Model Railway Exhibition

The largest independent model railway exhibition in the country is coming to Staffordshire County Showground this weekend.

There will be over 55 Model Railway layouts, over 50 model railway traders, plus clubs, societies and demonstrations.

Extensive free parking is available with a bus running from Stafford Station on both days.
