Saturday 3 October-Sunday 4 October: Canoeing at Shugborough Estate

People can view the historic Shugborough Estate from a whole new angle as they paddle along the River Sow this Saturday and Sunday.

Both one-hour guided sessions (booking essential) or 30-minute drop-in sessions are available.

Guided sessions will be running from 10:30am-11:30am and 11:45am to 12:45pm on both days.

Saturday 3 October-Sunday 4 October: Everything Goes Gala 2026 at Amerton Railway

Amerton Railway is hosting some exciting activities this weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be increased train services (both steam and diesel locomotives).

People can also take tours of the workshops and loco shed where they can see trains currently being repaired by the volunteer team.

Amerton Railway said: "You can join us from 8am to see us preparing the steam locomotives in our yard and talk to the crew!

"Our Heritage trail, yard, and Picnic Area will be open for you to explore and capture pictures of the train in our excellent countryside and field railway environments."

Pocket Film Festival

Now in its ninth year, the Pocket Film Festival closes this weekend.

People can enjoy a varied programme of film events in the heart of Staffordshire and beyond.

Festival director Owen Hurcombe said: "The Pocket Film Festival gives people a chance to experience film culture on their doorstep.

"The festival will host over fourteen specialised film events which will include enhanced screenings with live musical accompaniment, archive films and documentaries, short-film programmes, independent film, British film, and classic films."

Until Saturday 3 October- 'In and Around Stafford 1964' (Free event at Stafford Library)

Thursday 1 October- 'This is England' (Brewhouse Arts Centre)

Friday 2 October- 'Who do we think we are? - Staffordshire Film Archive' (Acton Trussell Community Centre)

Saturday 3 October- 'Distinctively Staffordshire' (Perton Library)

Saturday 3 October- 'Song of the Sea' (Baswich Library)

CLOSING EVENT Saturday 3 October- 'Faust' with live organ accompaniment by Darius Battiwalla (Holy Trinity Church, Eccleshall)
