Two members of Staffordshire Police will take on a cycling challenge to raise money for colleagues who have lost their lives while on duty.

On Friday (7 August), DC Matt Jones and news and public affairs officer, Rach Harrison, will join hundreds of officers and staff from across the UK for the annual Police Unity Tour.

They will ride as part of the West Midlands chapter, taking on a gruelling 200 mile route over the course of two days, completing the challenge at the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA) in Staffordshire on Sunday (9 August).

Motorcyclists from Staffordshire Police will accompany them for part of the journey and final section of the route to NMA where a remembrance service will be held.

The Police Unity Tour raises money for Care of Police Survivors (COPS), a Staffordshire-based charity which supports the families of police officers and staff who have lost their lives on duty.

It offers the chance to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have died while fundraising for the charity.

Rach, Matt and their fellow riders have been training and raising money for several months and hope that colleagues and members of the public will support the cause.

Matt said: "Every mile we ride has a purpose.
