Last week, we asked our readers to vote for what they believed to be Stafford's most beautiful building.

Voting took place via the Stafford Nub News Facebook page and we are pleased to announce that the results are in!

The competition was tough with a large number of buildings being nominated.

Notable mentions include St Chad's and The Shire Hall both with 12% of the vote and St Mary's with 8%.

However, the overall winner, crowned Stafford's most beautiful building, is The Ancient High House.

The ornate timber building, which dates back to around 1595, received 36% of the vote.

Once visited by King Charles I, the iconic Stafford building is the linchpin of Greengate Street.

It is possibly the largest surviving timber framed town house in England from the Tudor period, certainly a claim to fame.
