By Livia Gregor 23rd Mar 2026
A self-guided audio tour has been launched allowing listeners to learn all about Stafford's hidden history.
Created by AudaTours, the audio guide became available on 20 March and takes in 13 local landmarks including the Shire Hall, The Picture House and Stafford power station.
Visit Staffordshire said: "This self-guided audio tour invites you to trace hidden trails through centuries of scandal and intrigue, finding legends few visitors ever hear.
"Wander with purpose as extraordinary tales come alive right beneath your feet.
"Glide past monuments and alleyways where rebels plotted and noble ambitions shattered.
"Move with anticipation from courtroom tension to secret passages as lost stories leap into vivid focus.
"Stafford's most astonishing truths are waiting in plain sight."
Mysteries of the past will be uncovered such as who used to deliver forbidden messages through the gates of HMP Stafford and what courtroom claim "shook the Shire Hall until judges turned pale."
The tour is 4km long, usually takes between 60 and 80 minutes and can be replayed unlimited times.
Bonus tracks shed light on Stafford's Anglo Saxon, Norman and Medieval history.
Audio guides are on sale until December and can be purchased online by clicking the link.
