A secondary school in Stafford is set to save thousands of pounds following the installation of new solar panels.
Stafford Manor High School is one of 250 schools nationally to have solar panels installed as part of Great British Energy's first major national scheme.
It is estimated that the school will save £475,000 on energy costs (based on the 30-year panel lifespan) meaning there will be a greater amount of money available to spend on teaching, facilities and supporting pupils.
Great British Energy Solar is a publicly owned energy company established by the UK Government.
Stafford MP Leigh Ingham, recently visited Stafford Manor High and was impressed by the educational facility's commitment to its students and to making sure every child has the best possible start.
She said: "This investment by Great British Energy in Stafford Manor will have an incredible impact on local students and teachers.
"It will mean lower energy bills for the school, and more of its budget going into the things that matter, including teaching, support for pupils, and creating great places to learn.
"It is brilliant to see Stafford at the front of the queue for clean energy investment.
"Labour promised to deliver energy security, invest in our public services, and bring down bills, and that is exactly what this programme is delivering."
Rhys Adams, Headteacher at Stafford Manor, said: "I'm really proud that Stafford Manor was selected as one of the first 250 schools nationally.
"Knowing that our energy costs will be more stable allows us to focus on what matters most, which is providing excellent teaching and support for our pupils."
