By Livia Gregor 25th Mar 2026
A man has been jailed for stabbing another man on Marston Road.
Matthew Shelton, of Stafford, was jailed for three years and nine months at Stafford Crown Court on 24 March.
The nineteen-year-old had previously admitted to wounding with intent and possessing a knife in a public place.
On 13 December 2025, the teenager became involved in a confrontation with a man in his 40s, who was known to him.
Shelton took out a knife and stabbed the victim, who was later taken to hospital with a hand injury.
The knife used in the assault, was seized by police and Shelton was arrested.
Detective Constable Hayley Taylor, from the criminal investigations department (CID), said: "Shelton inflicted harm on the victim in this case and chose to use violence, which we cannot stand for.
"This incident in particular was seen by lots of people who would have no doubt worried about why and how a man was stabbed in the street in broad daylight.
"I'm happy we've been able to build the evidence needed to secure the conviction."
