By Livia Gregor 25th Mar 2026
Stafford's past will be brought to life this Saturday 28 March, with activities, talks and musical performances taking place across the town centre to mark Stafford History Day.
Local historic buildings such as St Mary's Church, St Chad's, The Ancient High House, and The Almshouses will be opening the doors to the public.
Expert guides will be on hand to provide visitors with fascinating facts, and a special bell tower tour at St Mary's at 2pm.
Lectures on topics such as the history of Morris dancing and Staffordshire Police will be taking place at The Gatehouse Theatre as well as musical performances.
Staffordshire History Centre is joining in the fun and will be hosting talks on crime and punishment, the suffragette movement and shoemaking as well as an interactive trail and badge making for children.
Stafford Castle inspired activities will be occurring in Market Square including brass rubbing, coin minting and the chance to try on historical costumes.
Volunteers at the Ancient High House will be running short versions of their usual heritage tours.
The house will be open throughout the day with helpful volunteers, spread across the museum, ready to answer any burning questions.
