Stafford has been issued with a further yellow weather warning by the Met Office meaning thunderstorms are likely to continue until later today (28 August).

The warning, which will be in place from 12pm until 9pm, is the third issued to Stafford by the Met Office this week.

Driving conditions may be impacted by spray, standing water and/or hail meaning journeys by car or bus may take longer.

Train services may also be delayed.

Some homes and businesses are likely to flood resulting in damage. and buildings may also be damaged if they are struck by lightning.

Short-term losses of power are also possible.

What should you do to stay safe?

• Consider if your location is at risk of flash flooding and if so prepare a flood plan and emergency flood kit
• Before winds arrive, secure moveable objects such as bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, gazebos, sheds and fences
• Check road conditions before travelling by car or public transport
• Gather torches, batteries, mobile phone power packs and other essential items in case of a power cut
• If you are out and hear thunder, find a safe, enclosed shelter. Do not shelter under or near trees which could be struck by lightning and if in an elevated area, move to lower ground
