Situated on Gaolgate Street, Plumbits has been helping local people design their dream bathrooms and solving plumbing problems for over 40 years.

The business will now be giving back to the Stafford community in a new way having recently installed a defibrillator on the outside wall of the plumbing counter.

On Friday (18 September), the Mayor of Stafford, Mark Winnington, officially opened the defibrillator.

Plumbits Showroom Manager, Julie James, said: "There wasn't a defibrillator at this end of town anymore, and we know how important it is when a person goes into cardiac arrest.

"Being able to use a defibrillator in the first three to five minutes after someone collapses, can increase survival rates by up to 70%.

"As we have been in town for over 40 years, most people know where Plumbits is and therefore it is easy to locate the defibrillator on the front of the building and it is accessible 24 hours a day.

"It was nice to have the Mayor here to officially announce it is ready to be used and also the team from Stafford and Cannock Hospitals League of Friends, who kindly donated the

defibrillator."

Mayor Winnington said: "It's a great place [for a defibrillator] , because it's right next to the town centre so if anyone does have a problem, there's access to the roads, access to taxis and ambulances.

"All I can say is, well done Plumbits and the League of Friends."

Plumbits paid for the defibrillator to be installed and are now fundraising for the League of Friends at the showroom and at the plumbing counter.

The Mayor added: "I'm really pleased about coming to Plumbits.

"They're a local firm, they've been in Stafford for years.

"If you want anything, and I've done it myself, they're always there.

"They're always helpful, and they are one of the businesses we should be proud of."
