Staffordshire Police has seized two caravans in response to several concerns that were reported recently. 

Over the past few months, several reports of anti-social behaviour, waste burning and drug use have been made in connection with caravans located near the old rugby club on Castlefields. 

Officers have been working with Stafford Borough Council and Swynnerton Estates in an attempt to tackle the issue. 

Those living in the caravans have been offered alternative accommodation by the local authorities on a number of occasions. 

Just before 11am today (24 March), police received a report that two caravans were being pushed down Kingsway.  

Officers attended the scene and the individuals pushing the caravans made an escape on foot.  

The caravans are believed to be stolen and have been seized as part of an ongoing investigation.  

Sergeant Luke Davies, from the Stafford local policing team, said: "We've been working closely with our partners to address persistent concerns from local people surrounding the activity around these caravans in the area.

"After being left at the side of the road, officers have taken positive action and recovered the caravans to a secure location, where our enquiries can continue.  

"We are continuing to act on the main concerns of people living and working in the local community."
