People to take on “ultimate mind-over-matter challenge” for Stafford charity
By Livia Gregor 19th Mar 2026
Brave souls from across Stafford will be taking on a firewalk to raise money for Katharine House Hospice.
The charity provides care and support for people who need end–of-life care and their families.
Firewalking involves walking barefoot across a bed of burning embers.
Although it sounds terrifying, the challenge will be completely safe as it is taking place under the expert supervision of UK Firewalk.
According to Katharine House "a firewalk is the ultimate mind-over-matter challenge" and "is a powerful way to conquer fear while supporting a great cause."
Each participant is aiming to raise £100 for the hospice which is enough to fund an hour of specialist care in the comfort of someone's own home.
The event will take place at Stafford Rangers Football Club on Friday 27 March.
Anyone who fancies giving the challenge a go must be over the age of 14 and register before 3pm on Friday 20 March.
Training and coaching will be provided by Scott Bell who is a two-time Guinness World Record holder for the greatest distance walked on fire.
Family and friends can spectate the event for £25 and entertainment will be provided by band 20 Mile Island.
