Hundreds to tackle Stafford Half Marathon this weekend

People from across the region and beyond will be taking on the Stafford Half Marathon this Sunday 22 March.
The race begins and ends at Victoria Park and runners should make their way to the start area (Tenterbanks) at 9:30am.
In 2025, over 2,000 people entered the Stafford Half Marathon, which has been an annual event in the town since 1984.
The start whistle will sound at 10am with the first runner expected to cross the finish line at approximately 11:10am.
Last year's winner, Jason Bennett, from Birchfield Harriers, completed the route in one hour, ten minutes and 13 seconds.
The Fun Run will begin at 10:10am.
Event organisers said: "An enthusiastic crowd makes all the difference to the runners, so please give your support along the 13.1 mile course!
"Market Square is on the last mile of the course and acts as a great hotspot to watch the final part of the race."
Prize giving is at 12:30pm at the bandstand in Victoria Park.
Information that could be useful on the day is as follows:
- 2 miles- Rowley Park (water cups)
- 6 miles- Weeping Cross (water cups)
- 8 miles- Portal Road (water cups)
- 10 miles- Common Road (water cups)
- End- Victoria Park (water cups)
- Victoria Park – In the Race village in Victoria Park over the white bridge
- Portable toilets at Rowley Park - 2 miles from race start
- Portable toilets in Weeping Cross - 6 miles from race start
- Portable toilets at Portal Road – 8 miles from the start
St John Ambulance will be providing first aid on the day.
Anyone who needs help should speak to first aid personnel at water stations or get the attention of a race steward.
