A shop, which has been serving the people of Stafford for 80 years, will close next month.

Yesterday (27 October), Peter Rogers Photographic Ltd announced on Facebook that the store would be closing due to retirement.

The family firm opened in 1947 with Peter Rogers at the helm.

In the mid 1980s, the business was taken over by his son Anthony Rogers who continues to run the shop to the present day.

Many local people will have had their big day captured by the store's team which specialises in wedding photography.

The business works with a range of Stafford businesses and helps to publicise events in the town.

Passport photos, portraits and photo printing are also available.

Following the shop's announcement, Staffordians shared their memories of Peter Rogers Photographic Ltd on social media.

One person commented: "I remember bringing my daughter in for her first passport photos ready to go to America that she didn't know she was going to (I came in and told you secretly that it was for passport and you just did it with no fuss, no hassle).

"So sad but have a lovely retirement.

"Stafford will not be the same."

Another said: "Must be the longest surviving business in Stafford.

"I was taken there as a four-year-old with my three-year-old brother to have our portraits taken in the mid 60s and we still have them.

"Thank you for your service over the decades and happy retirement."

Fellow Stafford business, That Little Bookshop, said: "Wishing you a very happy retirement.

"Best wishes."

The store will be hosting a closing down sale before finally shutting its doors on 28 November.
