Kind donation brings Bonfire Night fun to Staffordshire families affected by domestic abuse

A generous donation has been made to a Staffordshire charity to bring spooky season fun to local children.
Stafford Castle Rotary Club has donated pumpkins to children living at the refuge at Staffordshire Women's Aid.
They have also gifted each resident a ticket to Staffordshire Fireworks Extravaganza 2026 this Sunday (1 November).
Staffordshire Women's Aid provides refuge, counselling and practical help to victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
According to the NSPCC, 20% of children in the UK have lived with an adult perpetrating domestic violence.
Research carried out by charity SafeLives found that 62% of children in households where domestic violence is happening are also directly harmed.
Staffordshire Women's Aid said: "A huge thank you to Stafford Castle Rotary Club!
"Rotary Club of Stafford Castle has been spreading Halloween and Bonfire Night joy again this year with their wonderful generosity!
"These thoughtful treats give families the opportunity to make happy memories, enjoy special experiences and have fun together at a time when those moments mean so much.
"And there's even more pumpkin excitement at our refuge!
"The children have also been growing their own pumpkins in The Green Re-treat, our refuge allotment.
"These will be used for decorating and for cooking up something delicious — making the most of what they've grown themselves!
"A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Stafford Castle Rotary Club for continuing to think of our families and helping create special moments for the children and their mums.
"Your kindness really does make a difference!"
