Enjoy a boat trip while helping to rebuild an important piece of Stafford’s history

The Stafford Riverside Link project will be hosting its annual open weekend this May.
Organised by a group of local volunteers, the project aims to rebuild the Stafford Branch Canal and the Sow Navigation.
The route is one and a half miles long and was created to link Stafford Town Centre with the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Baswich.
It was in use from the 1810s until the 1920s with its main purpose being to transport coal to Stafford.
Taking place on 16 and 17 May, the open event will raise funds to continue the regeneration work on the canal.
One of the project's main goals is to excavate and reconstruct the canal basin as well as preparing the River Sow to create a navigable link into Stafford Town Centre.
The open weekend will be based at Baswich Lane between 10am and 5pm on both days.
Those who attend can enjoy boat trips, food and craft stalls.
It is recommended that people bring cash as not all of the stalls will be able to take card.
Titanic Brewery is one of the local organisations supporting the campaign and will be serving refreshments during the event.
