Refreshed dispersal orders are in place across Stafford and Stone town centres this weekend as part of a police crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

The section 34 orders, issued under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act, gives officers the powers to disperse individuals suspected of causing alarm and distress to communities or involved in crime and disorder.

The new orders came into force at 4pm today (9 October) and will remain in place until 4pm Sunday (11 October).

Similar orders were in place last weekend after police received multiple reports of anti-social behaviour and nuisance bikes in the area.

Since that time, four young people have been arrested, charged and bailed with conditions to prevent them entering the identified areas.

Officers should also be more visible in town centres during the weekend.

Inspector Dan Egerton, of Stafford Borough local policing team, said: "We are continuing to do all we can to address community concerns relating to anti-social behaviour in Stafford and Stone and these latest dispersal orders enable us to do just that.

"Alongside the additional powers that the section 34 orders give us, we are also increasing our foot patrols in identified areas to reassure the community and deter the minority who are involved in anti-social behaviour and associated crime."
