Child rapist sentenced to 22 years at Stafford Crown Court

A man in his 60s has received a 22-year sentence after admitting child sexual abuse against multiple victims.
Yesterday (Thursday 8 October), Kevin Bostock, aged 66, of Uttoxeter, was given a 19-year jail term with an extended licence period of three years after admitting four counts of rape of a child and one count of sexual assault of a child.
Bostock's offending first came to the attention of police in the 2010s when a victim came forward.
More recently, further victims have come forward making similar reports enabling officers to present additional evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, who then agreed to charge Bostock over the case.
During his interviews, Bostock continued to deny any wrongdoing despite the extensive detail the victims were able to provide about him, as well as what had happened to them over a number of years.
Though he initially pleaded not guilty to the offences, Bostock went on to admit five of the charges on the second day of his trial in July this year.
Along with his lengthy prison term, Bostock was ordered to meet Sex Offender Notification Requirements for life and made subject of a number of restraining orders to protect the victims.
Speaking following sentencing, Detective Sergeant Sophie Boden and Detective Constable Sophie Smart, both of our Child Protection Team, who worked on the case, said: "Bostock subjected his victims to a prolonged campaign of sexual abuse that has caused immeasurable long-term distress to them.
"We would like to commend the victims and survivors' immeasurable bravery that they have shown throughout the police investigation and court process.
"Their strength, determination and faith in us as officers has helped us to ensure that a truly dangerous sex offender has been jailed for a significant period of time and as a result, he will no longer be a risk to other children and the wider public.
"We hope that the sentence gives the victims' chance to continue to recover from what they have been through and demonstrates to the public that it doesn't matter how long ago the abuse happened, as soon as you report it to us, you will be believed, you will be supported, and we will do all we can to bring offenders to justice."
