An empty Listed Building in Stafford town centre could reopen as a dental surgery.

Planning permission and Listed Building Consent are being sought for internal alterations at 38 Greengate Street.

The three-storey Grade II Listed building dates back to the early 1800s. It was previously a branch of Toni and Guy.

A design and access statement submitted as part of the applications to Stafford Borough Council said: "The property is currently vacant but was most recently occupied as a hairdressing salon. The building will be converted into a dental surgery (also Class E) with clinical rooms, reception, and staff facilities.

"The proposed change of use is appropriate and maintains the building's long-standing commercial function. It supports local health infrastructure and town centre activity, in line with local planning policy.

"There will be no increase in floor area or extension of the building. The proposals involve internal reconfiguration and minor external repair works; the external appearance of the building will remain unchanged in character."
