Councillor requests call in for new housing plan by village hall
By James Smith 1st Mar 2026
A local councillor has asked for controversial plans for four new homes in a local village to be called in to the planning committee.
Cllr Jack Rose has made the request to Stafford District Council for the application for four new homes on fields next to the village hall in Great Bridgeford.
Plans submitted by the trustees of the Seighford Settled Estate show four, three-bed homes could be built on the land west of Newport Road.
Cllr Rose said the plans should be called in by Stafford Borough Council because the scheme is planned for green belt land, there is a "lack of infrastructure" to service the development and the build would mean space from the hall's overflow car park.
Many local residents have also objected to the application.
If approved, the scheme would also see a new footpath created along Newport Road from the end of the existing pavement to the village hall.
An area designated for 'biodiversity net gain' would also be included.
