Popular coffee shop Monk & Smuggler is currently undergoing essential repairs to its roof with scaffolding making the shop appear closed.

However, customers don't need to worry as the venue is still open and serving hots drinks and tasty, seasonal food. 

Located in St Mary's Mews, the cafe is known for its speciality coffee and impressive cake selection. 

If all goes to plan, the building will be restored to its former glory in the next two weeks.

This means that patrons will be able to enjoy sitting in the cafe's impressive outdoor seating area as it gets closer to the summer months.  

At the end of last year, Monk & Smuggler were recognised as the best Cafe, Pub, Bar or Restaurant in the Leigh Ingham's Small Business Awards.  

This is an impressive feat as the coffee shop was only launched in Summer 2024.

The independent cafe's cosy, creative feel and imaginative menu including its 'Bibi's Traditional Chai' (based on the owner's grandma's recipe) makes it an asset to the town centre.
