Several presenters from Stafford's Vibe 1 radio have resigned after its programme director and host charged with rape.

Stuart Michael Haycock, the voice of Vibe 1's breakfast show, has been charged with rape of a woman 16 years of age or over.

In light of this revelation and other ongoing issues, multiple presenters have now resigned from the station.

DJ Darren Westwood shared a copy of his resignation to managing director Jack Taylor-Walker on social media.

It said: "This decision has not been made lightly.

"We have valued the opportunity to contribute to the station and serve our listeners.

"However, the ongoing lack of communication, transparency, and engagement from yourself has made it increasingly difficult for me to perform my responsibilities effectively and remain committed to the organisation.

"Repeated concerns regarding communication have not been adequately addressed, leaving volunteers feeling uninformed, unsupported, and disconnected from decisions that directly affect our work and the future of the station.

"Effective communication is essential to any successful organization, and unfortunately, we no longer have confidence that this issue will improve."

Speaking for himself and co-host Cliff, presenter Paul Dean posted an identical statement on Facebook.

Neither the statements from Mr Westwood nor Mr Dean mentioned the charges levelled at Mr Haycock.

This is not the only turmoil faced by the station as Vibe 1 has been booted out its premises at Stafford Octagon after being served with an eviction notice by Sheriff & Penny Bailiffs on 18 June on behalf of the building's landlord New Beacon Group LTD.

Many listeners became aware something was wrong when the station began broadcasting a skeleton service with no hosts and some songs being played multiple times in the same hour.

Nothing is currently being broadcast.

Mr Haycock will appear at Cannock Magistrates' Court on 29 July.
