Staffordshire History Centre bringing the past to life with series of walking tours
By Livia Gregor 26th Feb 2026
People will have the chance to walk in the footsteps of some of Staffordshire's most memorable historical figures, from royals to rebels.
Over the coming months, Staffordshire History Centre is hosting walking tours and talks on topics such as crime, industry, fashion and monarchy.
One of the walks will uncover the lives of townspeople harshly treated by an unfair historical justice system and the fate of those who found themselves on trial.
Another of the tours explores Stafford's royal connections to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Elizabeth II's birth.
Each walk costs £5 and begins at Staffordshire History Centre on Eastgate Street, lasting around an hour.
Booking information is available on the museum's website as well as dates and times.

There will also be a series of free talks including 'Frocks and Flappers', all about fabulous 1920s fashion.
For those interested in political history, the 'Staffordshire Suffragette' talk on 18 March will explore the story of women's rights campaigner Alice Hawkins.
Hayley Coles, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council, said:
"The Staffordshire History Centre continues to be an invaluable resource into our county's rich history.
"Our tours and talks are a fantastic way to find out about key aspects of our past. When you think you know all there is to know about Staffordshire, these events show you there are so much still to learn.
"There are lots coming up in the following months but they book up fast, so please have a look and get yourself booked on and find out more about the fascinating past of our county."
The tours and talks are aimed at those aged 12 plus; however, there will be family-friendly walks on April 7 and May 29.
