Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has announced that one of the entrance paths to Doxey Marshes will be closed while restoration work takes place.

From today (20 July), the entrance path from Warren Lane (off Creswell Farm Drive) will close for around four weeks.

This is to allow the restoration work, which aims to create better wetland and river habitats for wildlife while protecting nearby homes from flooding, to move into its next phase of development.

Doxey Marshes will remain open and can be accessed via other entrances, including the Isabel Trail entrance behind Eccleshall Road Cemetery.

Visitors are being asked to "follow all safety signs and diversion routes", "follow instructions from contractors and site staff" and "allow extra time to access the reserve from alternative entrances".

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust said: "Thank you for your patience and support while we carry out this important work for nature."
