Summer days out on public transport from Stafford: Shugborough Estate
By Livia Gregor 3rd Jul 2026
Whether you're being environmentally conscious or simply want to leave the car at home, Stafford Nub News is here with all the information you need to have a fantastic day out using public transport this summer.
This week's destination is Shugborough Estate.

Located on the outskirts of Great Haywood, Shugborough Estate's spectacular gardens are the perfect place to wile away the hours on a sunny day.
There is plenty to see and do including exploring Shugborough Hall, the ancestral home of the Anson Family who lived on the estate from 1624.
Visitors can look around the apartments of Patrick Lichfield, 5th Earl and official wedding photographer to Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.
Shugborough's second-hand bookshop is the ideal place to find a new novel to devour.
Refreshments can be found at The Mansion Tearoom, Park Farm Cafe or at the ice-cream parlour in the Midden Yard.
Getting to Shugborough Estate by bus:
Board the 828 bus toward Lichfield at Gaol Square and get off at the Clifford Arms.
Take the short walk to Shugborough Estate.
This involves carefully crossing the road and heading down Main Road before turning left on to Trent Lane.
Follow the path crossing over a bridge and enter the estate via the entrance.
