A café in Stafford town centre has announced that it will be hosting two brand-new book clubs.

Monk and Smuggler, located opposite St Mary's, is launching two new free book clubs.

The café opened in Summer 2024 and has quickly become a hub for the local community.

As well as serving specialty coffee, the coffee shop also has its own running club and has recently announced a season of autumnal events including a cosy colouring night, a games night and craft sessions.

It has now been revealed that Monk and Smuggler will host not one but two new book clubs to suit the needs of different readers.

The Smuggler's Book Club adheres to a traditional book club set up with members gathering each month to discuss a particular book, share opinions and enjoy refreshments.

The Monk's Book Club is for those who would prefer to read a book of their choice without the pressure of chit-chat.

Members can enjoy an hour of reading in a cosy and welcoming space and then they can choose to socialise or continue reading.

Owner Natasha Duncan, said: ""I just really want to help build community and for people to find like-minded people and to feel less lonely!

"I want Monk and Smuggler to feel like a cosy, safe, cultured space, where you feel warmth from the people around you.

"A place where we enjoy the arts and literature over great coffee.

"Stafford needs these tangible, community hubs in a world where people have become so isolated behind screens or just the fast pace of life."

The clubs are free to attend however booking is important as spaces are limited.
