Staff at a local opticians have raised thousands of pounds for Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH), after being inspired by the remarkable recovery of a young patient.
Eight members of the Specsavers Stafford team took on the town's annual 10K race raising an impressive £3,732 after seeing first-hand the amazing work carried out by BCH.
Following an eye test at the store last year, three-year-old Harper Gibson was diagnosed with a brain tumour due to the quick-thinking and swift referral of the Specsavers Stafford team.
Harper later received specialist treatment at BCH meaning it is a cause close to the hearts of staff at the store.
She has now rung the bell to mark the end of her treatment, a milestone that Specsavers Stafford was delighted to celebrate with her and her family.
Specsavers Stafford store director, Satinder Mahal, said: "Harper's story has made this cause incredibly personal for us.
"The hospital provides remarkable care and support to children and their families during some of the most difficult times imaginable.
"To know that our fundraising will help support the hospital and the vital work it does makes all those training miles worthwhile.
"We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us and helped us reach such a fantastic total."
Specsavers Stafford is encouraging the local community to get behind the cause and give to their fundraising page which remains open.
