A pair of popular local publicans are set to depart from a well-known Stafford boozer.

Terry and Dee, who have run The Bird in Hand in Stafford for almost ten years, will be leaving the bar behind to take on "a new challenge".

Back in March, The Bird in Hand won Stafford's favourite pub as voted in by Nub News readers.

In a recent Facebook post Terry said: "It is with some sadness that Dee and I have to announce that, after just over nine years, we will be leaving The Bird in Hand in August.

"We have had some amazing times including lockdowns, met some amazing people and made some great friends.

"The Bird has become such a great multi-function pub with many different groups using us.

"We are staying with Black Country Ales and are moving to a new challenge in Birmingham, so not far away.

"We are sure there will be many tears and much laughter before we leave, but hopefully we will take away more great memories and much love.

"Thank you to everyone, most of all the team for all your support and effort."

One person commented: "Obviously sad news for all of us, but I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

"You've made the Bird In Hand a really fantastic Pub again, and I'm sure you'll do the same again with your next venture."

Another said: "Wishing you all the success in your new venture, Stafford's loss is definitely Brum's gain."
