By Livia Gregor 24th Feb 2026
A man and a woman have been found guilty of causing serious physical harm after a three-month-old baby tragically died in Stafford in February 2021.
Earlier today (February 24), Jack William Davies, 26, and Terrie Marie Wood, 23, were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court after a jury found the pair guilty of causing/allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm in October.
Staffordshire Police was called by West Midlands Ambulance Service at 8:37am on 5 February, 2021, after reports of a three-month-old girl in cardiac arrest.
The infant died on her way to hospital, with the post-mortem showing no natural cause for the baby's death.
There was evidence of an untreated head injury and several rib fractures.
Following an investigation by the Staffordshire Police child protection team, the parents were arrested and charged.
Davies received a two-year prison sentence with Wood being jailed for one year and eight months.
Detective Sergeant Claire Mace said: "This was an incredibly distressing case for all agencies involved. Today's sentencing sends a clear message that violence against children will never be tolerated. My thoughts remain with everyone affected by this incident.
"We will continue to work with our partners to protect children from harm, safeguard them and prevent tragic cases like this one."
