New outdoor gym installed at St George’s Hospital

An accessible outdoor gym has been installed at St George's Hospital in Stafford.
The new facility has been created to give staff, patients, service users and visitors somewhere to get active while making use of the hospital's outdoor space.
It is hoped that those who use the gym will notice an improvement in their mental health and wellbeing.
Located on St George's walk, an established exercise route on the site, the gym consists of a seated arm and pedal bike, a self-weighted rower, an elliptical cross trainer, a seated leg press, a sit up bench and a seated chest press and pull-down bar.
Equipment is easily accessible with clear signage explaining how apparatus should be used.
Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) organised the installation of the gym, overseen by the hospital's Allied Health Professionals (AHP) team.
Stephanie Haig, Advanced Occupational Therapist and Sensory Integration Practitioner, said: "The equipment was selected to provide a range of exercise opportunities for all fitness abilities.
"It's a great facility for our patients to access when utilising ground leave for some time off the ward environments, as part of exercise programmes for physiotherapy, or when attending on site for outpatient appointments.
"It's also a great facility for staff to use during breaks, or for visitors to access when onsite.
"We're really excited to share the news and hope it becomes a well-utilised addition."
