More than 2,200 people crossed the finish line of the Stafford 10K last weekend, the largest number ever to do so.

This was a notable increase from the 1,895 people who took part in the 10K in 2025.

This year, the race celebrated its 10th birthday with the course having been designed by local runner Christine after winning the event's anniversary competition.

First across the line was Lee Gratton (Rugeley Runners) with a time of 30:33.

Lee also won last year's 10K and the Stafford Half Marathon back in March.

Stephanie Giles (Alchester Running Club) was the female winner, completing the course in 37:33.

Runners of all abilities took part in the race which is organised by Freedom Leisure in partnership with Stafford Borough Council who said "the annual event brought thousands of runners, supporters and volunteers together for a fantastic celebration of running and community spirit in the heart of the county town."

Cllr Gillian Pardesi, Cabinet Member for Leisure at the Borough Council, said: "To have smashed the record for the number of athletes finishing the race is a fitting way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 10k - one of the best events in the local sporting calendar.

"Congratulations to all who took part and all who supported the runners along the route.

"Thank you also to those who make sure the event is well organised, before, on the day, and after the race is over."

Freedom Leisure, Race Director, Ross Stephenson said: "What an incredible way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Stafford 10K.

"To see a record 2,226 people cross the finish line is something we can all be extremely proud of.

"The event has grown enormously over the last decade, but what makes it so special is the fantastic community spirit surrounding it.

"A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our 10th anniversary Stafford 10K one to remember."
