A 31-year-old man has been charged after a fire in Stafford.

Andrew Stephen Gillett, of no fixed address, has been charged with arson.

This comes after police were called to Eastgate Street following reports that a skip and several bins were on fire on Monday (17 August).

Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and the fire was extinguished by fire crews.

No one was injured.

Yesterday (18 August), Gillett appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre and was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Stafford Crown Court on a date and time to be fixed.
