Police are appealing for information following a report of an assault in Stafford Borough.

On Saturday (12 September), at approximately 4:55pm, police were called to reports of an assault on the Trent and Mersey Canal in Stone, on the stretch between Stafford Street and the Canalside Car Park.

A man had reportedly been assaulted by another man on his narrowboat.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, approximately 35 years old, of slim to medium build, with brown hair and wearing a grey tracksuit.

The male was seen approaching the canal via the path from the Canalside Car Park and leaving in the same direction following the incident.

Anyone who was present on the canal towpath or at the Canalside Car Park between 4:45pm and 5:00pm on Saturday should contact police as they may have information which could assist enquiries.

Staffordshire Police said: "If you witnessed the incident, saw this male in the area, have any CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage, or any information that may assist our enquiries, please contact us."
