The trial of a Birmingham man who denied assaulting his partner and two men has been thrown out after he changed his plea to guilty.

Andre Hancox, 28, admitted two counts of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm and assault by beating during the first day of his trial (1 September) at Stafford Crown Court.

Hancox assaulted his ex-partner in her home in Hednesford in February before going on to stab a man who tried to intervene in the chest.

He also assaulted another man during the incident.

Hancox has been remanded into custody ahead of sentencing on Wednesday 28 October.

Detective Constable Reece Hingley, from Staffordshire Police CID, said: "This is another example of how, as a force, we are tackling violence against women, domestic abuse and serious violent offences.

"The evidence against Hancox was overwhelming and led to his eventual guilty plea.

"Domestic violence is an incredibly damaging crime, both physically and emotionally and I'm pleased we were able to build all the evidence needed in this case to make sure another perpetrator in our county is being brought to justice."
