A fault with the signalling system at Stafford station is currently causing major disruption.

The issue means that some lines towards Wolverhampton/London Euston are blocked.

As a result, trains between Crewe and Stafford may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, revised, cancelled or diverted.

Disruption is likely to last until 7pm.

Routes affected:

  • Avanti West Coast between Edinburgh/Glasgow Central/ Holyhead/Chester/ Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston
  • CrossCountry between Manchester Piccadilly and Bristol Temple Meads/Bournemouth
  • London Northwestern Railway between Liverpool Lime Street and Birmingham New Street, and also between Crewe and Stafford/London Euston
  • Lumo between Stirling and London Euston

Advice for Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry and London Northwestern Railway customers can be found here.

A video explaining the disruption can be seen above.
