Filming for a brand new drama about the Cadbury family has been taking place in Stafford this week.

Inspired by Deborah Cadbury's book of the same name, 'Chocolate Wars', follows brothers Richard and George Cadbury as they navigate 1860s Birmingham while trying to save their family's cocoa business.

According to BritBox: "'Chocolate Wars' is a warm-hearted family drama following the visionary Cadbury family, the underdogs of the cocoa world, on their journey towards creating the world-famous Cadbury's chocolate bar.

"Between them [Richard and George], they have the radical genius and burning ambition to turn Cadbury's into one of the world's most beloved confectioners.

"But first, they must learn to trust and rely on each other.

"And to stop bickering for long enough to actually invent some chocolate!"

Martin Street and St Martin's Place have both been transformed back in time with horse-drawn carriages spotted in the area.

A spokesperson for The Market Vaults, the front of which has undergone a Victorian makeover, said: "It has been so exciting watching the streets all being transformed back to the 1800s and everything going on.

Many locals have been trying to catch a glimpse of the filming which has created quite a buzz in the town centre.

Market Square has been used by the film crew to store trailers, props and even horses!

The show, which will star actors such as Joanna Scanlan (Riot Women, Missed Call), Jessica Barden (Dune: Prophecy, The End of the F****ing World) and Pearce Quigley (Small Prophets, The Gentlemen), will air in 2027.
