‘I'm fighting to make sure Highfields doesn't lose its Post Office’ says MP

Local MP, Leigh Ingham, has launched a campaign to save Highfields' post office.
This comes after Morrisons proposed to close its Highfields store where the Post Office is currently located.
Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, Eccleshall and the villages, is calling for residents to sign her petition to show Morrisons, Post Office, Stafford businesses and ministers how essential the amenity is to the local community.
She has contacted both Morrisons and Post Office in the hope of finding a way to keep the store open and is encouraging local retailers to come forward and apply to host a new Post Office branch in Highfields.
The MP has also written to the Minister for Small Business and Economic Transformation, Blair McDougall, in the hope he will ensure continuity of services for residents as a matter of urgency.
Leigh said: "Highfields Post Office is a vital part of our community.
"People rely on it every day for banking, bill payments, passport applications, and parcel services.
"For many residents, particularly older people and those without a car, the next nearest branch at Rising Brook simply isn't a realistic alternative.
"I'm fighting to make sure Highfields doesn't lose its Post Office, and I know the community are with me.
"Every signature on this petition sends a clear message: we need a Post Office in Highfields."
