The body of a man was found in water near Tilcon Avenue in Baswich earlier today (11 March).

Staffordshire Police was called to the scene at around 12:30pm after a report of a body in water.

West Midlands Ambulance Service, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Midlands Air Ambulance also attended the scene.

The man's next of kin have been informed.

Staffordshire Police said: "We are currently treating the death as unexplained and have launched an investigation to find out more about what happened.

"We do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage".
