‘A fantastic example of the community coming together’: Litter picking group launches in Stafford
By Livia Gregor 7th Apr 2026
Last month, a team of local people took part in a litter pick as part of an initiative to clean up Stafford's streets.
The first meeting of the group was attended by eight volunteers who donated their time to litter picking on the river path between ASDA and Stafford Leisure Centre.
A large amount of rubbish was collected at the event which was organised by Healthy Communities Stafford.
Items found included beer bottles, cigarette butts, a shopping basket and a pair of underpants.
After an hour of hard work, volunteers were treated to a cup of tea and were able to chat and spend time together.
Healthy Communities Manager, Jules Kendrick, said: "We're thrilled to see such a positive turnout for our first litter pick.
"It's a fantastic example of the community coming together to look after the spaces we all enjoy.
"As well as helping to keep Stafford clean, the group offers a great social opportunity and a brilliant chance for people to get active in a relaxed, friendly environment.
"We're really excited to see this group grow over the coming months."
The group will be meeting monthly.
